Pune: Residents of several societies in Punawale like Skylish Avenue etc. are fed up due to deep potholes on nearby roads, leading to several problems.

Debayan Dhar, a resident of Skylish Avenue, Punawale said, “The condition of roads & potholes here is so much that it takes 1 hour to commute even to short distances. The entire road going from our society is laden with potholes. Vehicles travelling on these roads are prone to damage from the bottom due to the frequent impact of small objects.”

He further said, “The civic body has been informed of this issue and has taken all necessary steps to address it. However, no concrete action has been taken. During the rainy season, patchwork is carried out on the potholes, but the potholes re-emerge.”

Neeraj Dharmadhikari, a resident of Skylish Avenue, Punawale said, “The condition of various roads in & around Punawale is getting worse and worse. Koyate Wasti, Punawale Underpass, main roads etc. are completely laden with potholes. People tend to slip on the road while walking. Vehicles driven on these roads tend to get damaged. PCMC has been notified about this issue in every way possible. However, nothing has been done. Only patchwork is done in every rainy season but potholes emerge again. No concrete solution is implemented.”

Deepak Upadhyay, another resident of Skylish Avenue, Punawale said, “People living here do not have proper roads. Today, even village roads are good but the roads in Metro cities like Pune & Pimpri Chinchwad are worse. Citizens cannot walk due to potholes. Kids & senior citizens are forced to walk on these roads as there is no choice. Vehicles skid often, leading to accidents & damages. Every rainy season, the condition gets worse about dealing with such bad roads and potholes. The people who are responsible for this are not doing anything like the PCMC, politicians etc.”

Pune Pulse tried to contact the relevant PCMC road department official but couldn’t connect till the report was filed.
