Pune: In a significant step towards environmental conservation and energy efficiency, a 400 KW solar power project was inaugurated at Three Jewels Apartment in Kondhwa on March 19, coinciding with the auspicious occasion of Gudi Padwa. The project was inaugurated by Yogesh Anna Tilekar in the presence of several local representatives and residents.
Among those present were corporators Rajana Tilekar, Archana Jagtap, Vrushali Kamthe, and Pooja Kadam, along with local youth leaders Rahulappa Tilekar, Tushar Kadam, Shrikant Kamthe, and Umesh Dandekar.

The solar installation, set up in one of Kondhwa’s largest residential complexes with around 1,600 flats, is likely among the biggest residential solar projects in Pune district. The initiative is expected to meet a substantial portion of the society’s common electricity requirements, resulting in significant savings on power bills while contributing to reduced carbon emissions.
During the inauguration, society secretary Pandurang Bhole highlighted the journey of the solar project, while chairman Suryakant Khurse elaborated on the vision behind adopting renewable energy. He appreciated the cooperation of all residents in successfully executing the project.

The total cost of the project is estimated at ₹2.25 crore, with an expected government subsidy of approximately ₹68 lakh. The project is projected to generate annual electricity savings of nearly ₹1 crore. Khurse further stated that the association plans to undertake more initiatives in energy conservation, water management, and sustainable practices in the future.
Technical insights into the project, including challenges faced during implementation, were shared by Sanjay Mule, while Rupesh Shah spoke about structural aspects and solutions.
Addressing the gathering, Yogesh Anna Tilekar emphasized the growing importance of solar energy and noted that such initiatives contribute significantly to sustainable development. He also highlighted the government’s policy of promoting renewable energy adoption and congratulated all stakeholders, including the managing committee, solar committee members, consultants, and the executing company, Nature Light, for successfully completing the project.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by vice president Prahlad Dudhal.
The initiative by Three Jewels Apartment is expected to serve as a model for other housing societies in Kondhwa and across Pune, encouraging wider adoption of clean and green energy solutions.
