Pune : 65 percent MSEDCL consumers pay electricity bills online

Pune: A significant 65 per cent of Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) consumers have preferred to pay their electricity bills online.  It is worthy to note that in the last three years, there has been an increase of 35 per cent of consumers who pay their bills online. At present, an average of 1 crore 10 lakh electricity consumers are paying electricity bills worth Rs 5750 crore from the convenience of their homes every month.

Instead of standing in a queue, MSEDCL offers the facility of paying the electricity bill online from anywhere,  anytime. For this, the website http://www.mahadiscom.in and ‘Mahadiscom Mobile App’ are accessible to everyone. 

Therefore, it is possible to pay more than one electricity bill ‘online’ from a single registered account. It also helps in saving the details, receipts, and bills of all the electricity connections on the computer or mobile phone. MSEDCL has also provided the facility to pay electricity bills through RTGS / NEFT for all customers whose electricity bills are above Rs  5000. The customer-wise bank details required for that are printed on the electricity bill.

All high-pressure category consumers of MSEDCL are paying their electricity bills online every month. About 1 crore 10 lakh MSEDCL customers belonging to the high and low-pressure category of MSEDCL have paid approximately Rs 5 thousand 750 crores online. In this, 22 lakh 83 thousand consumers in Pune circle have paid the highest electricity bills of Rs 1202 crore 76 lakhs. After that, 19 lakh 7 thousand customers in Kalyan circle have paid Rs 725.79 crores and 17 lakh 31 thousand customers in Bhandup circle have paid bills worth Rs 1005 crore 41 lakhs online.

Similarly for Baramati, 10 lakh 68 thousand consumers have paid electricity bills worth Rs 519.35 crore and for Nashik, 10 lakh 53 thousand consumers have paid electricity bills worth Rs 469.64 crore online.

A total of 1.25 per cent discount is being given to the electricity consumers if they pay the electricity bill ‘online’ and 0.25 per cent on each month’s electricity bill within the limit of Rs 500 per month and 1 per cent if they pay the electricity bill promptly. Especially, electricity bill payment ‘online’ is free except if payment is done through credit cards. Safe and convenient online service is available for low-pressure customers to pay their electricity bills with one click from the comfort of their homes. Payment of electricity bills through online is very secure and the provisions of RBI Bank’s Payment and Settlement Act-2007 are applicable. MSEDCL has appealed to everyone that a maximum number of consumers should opt for paying their electricity bills online.
