In order to facilitate & make airport security and boarding procedures & more much easier & quicker, the Pune Airport has fast tracked the process to include more airlines for DigiYatra facility usage.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Santosh Dhoke, Airport Director, Pune Airport, said “There are some airlines which are not registered currently with DigiYatra. Registration of these airlines under the DigiYatra facility is being discussed on the Central level as of now. Once the decision of inclusion of some more airlines in the DigiYatra facility is out, the facility for these airlines at Pune airport will begin.”

What is DigiYatra?

India’s Ministry of Civil Aviation launched the DigiYatra digital initiative. It seeks to give passengers on airplanes a smooth, paperless travel experience. With DigiYatra, flyers can use biometric technologies—like facial recognition—to confirm their identity without requiring paper documents at a variety of checkpoints, including security, boarding gates, and check-in. The objective of this initiative is to optimize flyer convenience, minimize wait times, and boost overall aviation efficiency.

How to Use DigiYatra

·         Download the DigiYatra App by Digi Yatra Foundation from Play Store (Android) or App Store (iOS) and register using your mobile number and OTP.

·         Link your Identity Credentials using DigiLocker or Offline Aadhaar.

·         Take a selfie picture when prompted and upload onto the app.

·         Update your Boarding Pass on the DigiYatra App and share with the departure airport.

Dhairyashil Vandekar, an Aviation Expert, said “I am glad that action has been started for including more airlines for the DigiYatra facility. The DigiYatra facility for Akasa Air has begun. The facility for Air Asia has been assured to begin from 1st January 2024. Airport Authority of India Chairman Sanjeev Kumar promised to take prompt action in response to the concerns expressed. In order to make Alliance Air’s integration into DigiYatra easier, additional follow-up actions are being carried out. Also, Star Air is also being considered for integration into the DigiYatra system in order to give passengers a seamless travel experience.”
