Pune: The Airports Authority of India has sent a letter to Pune Municipal Corporation stating measures to be taken before the planned G20 summit meetings.

The letter, dated December 27, specified certain measures to decongest the entry and exit points to the airport as private and commercial vehicles parked along the road cause heavy congestion at these points, especially during peak morning and evening hours.

Speaking about the same, Pune airport director Santosh Dhoke said, “We have had multiple meetings with the traffic police and the PMC commissioner regarding the various issues we are facing around the entry and exit points. This is despite the airport’s multi-level parking facility becoming fully functional from December 1, 2022.”

Footpaths, storm water drains, additional street lights, sign boards are some of the many amenities that will come up along the new airforce road  from Weikfield circle, Symbiosis road and nearby roads, ahead of the planned G20 summit meetings.

It is also observed that hawkers are doing their business right in front of exit gate of Pune airport which is a security threat
