Pune: To avoid hassles at check-in points at the Pune airport, the authorities have issued an advisory to flyers stating that flyers should reach the airport three hours before flight departure time.

“Considering the traffic congestion, all airlines have been told to issue an advisory to the flyers to report at least three hours prior to the scheduled departure of their flights. This way, they will have ample time to complete the check-in process. Flyers are requested to adhere to the advisory,” said Santosh Dhoke, director, Pune International Airport.

The passenger traffic is expected to increase ahead of Christmas and New Year. Last year a lot of people complained about long queues at check in points.

Richa Panchal, a regular flyer said, “December is one of the most chaotic months at the Pune airport as we have to deal with long check in queues every year. It is a good decision to issue an advisory early.”The current terminal building has the capacity to handle around 650 to 750 passengers on an hourly basis. Currently passenger movement of Pune airport has reached to 28,000 which is more than pre pandemic level.
