Pune, December 1, 2025: In a major advancement for public healthcare services, Aundh District Hospital successfully performed a robotic-assisted knee replacement surgery on a patient suffering from severe joint pain. The procedure was carried out under the guidance and support of Public Health Minister Prakash Abitkar and Secretary Dr. Nipun Vinayak.

The surgery was performed under the Mahatma Jyotirao Phule Jan Arogya Yojana. Meril Company provided the robotic system, implants and technical support required for the advanced procedure.

The operation was conducted by the Orthopaedic Department of Aundh District Hospital. A team of specialists — Dr. Nagnath Yampalle (Orthopaedic Surgeon), Dr. Anil Santpure, Dr. Mahendra Garad, Dr. Anil Vihade and Dr. Amit Vanshelkikar — successfully completed the surgery.

To ensure smooth execution of the procedure, anaesthesiologists Dr. Keshav Gutte, Dr. Jayashree Mannur and Dr. Prachi Uttarwar, along with paediatric specialists Dr. Balaji Kadam and Dr. Shoaib Shaikh, extended crucial support. Operating room nurse Smt. Nanda Thombre and the entire surgical staff also contributed significantly.

With the introduction of this advanced robotic technology at Aundh District Hospital, patients suffering from joint pain and requiring knee replacement surgery will now have access to safer, more precise and highly effective treatment options. This milestone is expected to benefit a large number of patients in the district.
