Wakad: “Leave your family and marry me, or…….", Married Woman Killed By Lover After Threat To File Rape Case
Police say the accused strangled the 26-year-old woman in Dharashiv district and later tried to burn the body before returning to Pune.
A shocking crime has come to light from Pimpri-Chinchwad’s Wakad area, where a 26-year-old married woman was murdered by her lover after she allegedly pressured him to marry her. The woman, Rani Vishal Gaikwad, had gone with the accused, Aniket Mahadev Kamble, to the Dharashiv (Osmanabad) region earlier this week. Both were married to different partners and had been in an extramarital relationship for the last couple of years.
According to the police, the two argued late on Wednesday night. During the fight, the woman allegedly told the accused, “Leave your family and marry me, or I will file a rape case against you under BNS Section 69.” Police said this statement triggered the accused, who then strangled her and struck her head with a metal object.
After the murder, Aniket took the body to Dhoki village on the Latur–Barshi route to hide the crime. He poured petrol on the body and attempted to burn it, but the remains did not burn completely. Dhoki Police had already begun searching for the body when Wakad Police contacted them with information from their technical investigation.
Rani had been reported missing by her family on November 26. Investigators tracked her phone and confirmed constant communication with the accused. Technical evidence also placed Aniket in the Barshi–Latur belt around the time she went missing. When questioned, he initially tried to mislead the police but later confessed after being confronted with digital proof.
The accused, a resident of Thergaon, has a wife and daughter, while the deceased woman is survived by her husband and a young son. Wakad Police registered offences under BNS Section 103 (murder) and handed Aniket over to Dhoki Police for further investigation, as the crime took place under their jurisdiction.
The incident has created tension in the Thergaon–Wakad area, with locals stunned by the brutality of the crime and the attempt to destroy evidence.
