Residents of several societies in Patil Nagar, Balewadi are in distress as a big water tank (water taaki) near various societies such as 7 Avenues, Paritosh Sharada Alliance and more continuously keeps overflowing exponentially.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Shrikant Nirphale, Resident of 7 Avenue, Balewadi, said “A huge water tank is situated in Patil Nagar area which overflows due to which several thousand litres of water goes waste. It feels like it is raining as sheer water wastage happens due to this. A small pipe at the bottom of the water tank keeps overflowing & leaking along with it as well. Due to this leakage or overflowing, along with water wastage, the area keeps getting wet, making it all the more difficult for residents to walk or commute from here. The relevant authorities have been notified about this issue several times, however nothing has been done about this yet.”

Owner of a Nearby Garage, requesting anonymity, said “We have our garage situated very near to the water tank. Due to the continuous overflowing of water from this tank, the entire space nearby gets so wet that people are afraid to come here.”

Amol Balwadkar, Ex Corporator, Baner-Balewadi-Pashan, said “I shall take this up with the concerned officer from the water supply department and get this sorted. ”

Pune Pulse tried to contact the relevant PMC officials but couldn’t connect.
