The Pune Municipal Corporation has almost completed the work of laying a 23-kilometer water pipeline in the Baner-Balewadi area, which is part of the Smart City Scheme. The pipeline includes 23 km of transmission line to directly supply water from the Warje water treatment plant. The remaining 500 meters of work will be completed in the next 10 days. This project will provide adequate water supply to around 5 to 7 lakh citizens of this region, reducing their dependence on water tankers.

The work faced several challenges, including laying the pipeline across the river and along the highway. However, the project is expected to be completed by the end of May, and the water problem in the area will be resolved.

Previously, the Municipal Corporation was supplying water from the Warje Water Center to the tank in Chandni Chowk, which was then distributed to the Baner-Balewadi area. However, the municipality has now set up a brake pressure tank at Chandni Chowk to directly supply water to the three tanks set up at Baner-Balewadi by gravity along the Pune-Bangalore highway. These tanks have a capacity of about 1.15 crore liters, which will stop the reverse journey of water for Baner-Balewadi.

Former corporator Amol Balwadkar stated that I am happy that the work started to resolve water issues of Baner and Balewadi is now nearing completion. In the Equal Water Supply scheme, in the coming ten days Balewadi will first get PMC water supply. It is a matter of great pride that Balewadi is the first suburb which is getting PMC water in 24 by 7 water supply scheme. In the second phase, Baner will get water in the forthcoming month. I am thankful to the PMC water department team, Anirudh Pawaskar, Nandkumar Jagtap, Bankar, Shinde, and others.

The transmission water line carriageway work was completed last night near HEMRL on Ram Nadi, added Balwadkar.
