Pune: In a move to reduce waste, reuse as well as to donate several unused items to the less privileged, a donation box has been set up by two Baner-based people, Pradeep Deshmukh and Prasad Deshmukh, in Varsha Park Society, Baner, Pune.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Pradeep Deshmukh, business owner said,  “I was involved in various social activities right from the start. When I shifted to Baner, I thought that a box in the compound wall can be created where people can donate unused items like clothes, footwear and others. Hence, I and my brother Prasad Deshmukh created a donation box. There are 3 different sections in the box – clothes, shoes & others. I check all the items on the last day of every month and then give them to various NGOs or organizations that help needy people. It’s been 6 to 7 months since the box has been installed for which the response has been very good and is continuing to grow.”

Pradeep Deshmukh and Prasad Deshmukh ask donors to make sure that no defective or broken things are donated.
