About 120 ASEZ (Save the Earth from A to Z) members, seniors, and junior college students gathered together to collect garbage on 21st of Jan 2024, Sunday from 9 am till 11 am. Around 8 South Korean students participated in this campaign.

As per further information, the atmosphere on Vitthalrao Shivakar Road, from Samvidhan Chowk Wanowrie to Inamdar Hospital Fatima Nagar, was lively.

ASEZ, a university student volunteer group from the World Mission Society Church of God (Chairman Pastor Kim Joo-cheol, hereinafter referred to as the Church of God), was carrying out environmental cleanup activities. Citizens greeted and expressed their gratitude to the volunteers who picked up trash with bright smiles.

Pune, the educational and cultural center of Maharashtra, is frequently visited by tourists as it has a pleasant climate and is easily accessible from Mumbai. As it grows into a center for the automobile and IT industries, its population is also increasing. The place ASEZ visited on this day was a residential area with schools, parks, various stores, pharmacies, and shopping malls, so there was a lot of floating population. As it is always crowded with people, it is common for trash to be left everywhere, damaging the aesthetics of the city and causing inconvenience to citizens.

Maithili Manakwad, a Social Activist and secretary of Wanowrie Residents’ Forum, said that she and her team would love to work with ASEZ for the clean-up of Mulla Mutha River in the future.

PMC Wanowrie Ramtekdi Ward Office greatly supported and welcomed the volunteer work of ASEZ and supported all cleaning activities.

Nisar Mujawar, Deputy Sanitary Inspector, PMC Health Department, supported ASEZ by providing disposable hand gloves, face masks, water bottles etc and said “The students work with so much enthusiasm and energy every time I have seen them, this is the 10 time I am working with them in my wards for the past one year. “

Reena Swamy, a Pune Police official, said that the work of ASEZ students is an inspiration for many students in Pune.

A total of 2 tons of household waste and classified waste, such as cigarette butts, discarded paper, disposable straws/cups, and plastic bags, were collected and dumped in PMC garbage vans.
