Bavdhan: A meeting was held on January 23, with Pune Municipal Corporation’s (PMC) Tax Department officer Ajeet Deshmukh in which  Bavdhan residents demanded a reduction in exorbitant property tax with the support of Kiran Dagade, a BJP politician.

Residents of Bavdhan are demanding a reduction in property tax. They are firm in their decision for not paying the property tax by March 30, 2023 and wait for the administration’s decision and go by the process. If no decision is made regarding reduction of property tax, Bavdhan residents will stage further agitation.

In the meeting held with Ajeet Deshmukh, he signed the acknowledgement and said that positive actions will be taken on the issues raised by the residents.

BCF member Nachiket Deshpande, present in the meeting said, “It was a fruitful meeting with Ajeet Deshmukh, regarding the property tax reduction. He said he would  discuss the issue with PMC Commissioner Vikram Kumar and with the State government’s property tax officials.  Considering the development of facilities at Bavdhan, they have charged extra property tax. The topic will also be discussed with other newly added villages and next week a meeting will be held with PMC Commissioner Vikram Kumar.”

However, a meeting for the same was held last week in Bavdhan with another property tax official who had explained the reason and calculation as to why the tax was high for the new societies of which residents have occupation letters (OC) after 2021. Residents were informed that the resolution was passed by PMC Commissioner Vikram Kumar in this regard.
