Pune: Baramati constituency Member of Parliament (MP), Supriya Sule, a senior leader of the National Congress Party (NCP) directed Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) commissioner to conduct a meeting with all stakeholders to solve the traffic issue at Katraj chowk. Traffic at this juncture is abnormally high due to the flyover construction and road widening work.

MP Sule visited Katraj chowk on Monday during peak hours and reviewed the flyover construction and road widening work. She directed concerned authorities to complete the construction work on time.

Various kinds of developmental works including flyover construction work, road widening work, MSEB work, service road work, and drainage pipeline work creates congestion at Katraj Chowk.

Speaking on the issue, MP Supriya Sule said, “There is a lack of co-ordination among various government departments in development works. Also, there is a lack of alternative options while developing a particular area. Recently in a meeting with the PMC commissioner, we discussed the developmental works in Katraj chowk in detail. At that time, PMC gave the commitment to complete all these works by 1 May 2023. However, considering the slow pace of the work, PMC will not complete these works by 1 May.’’

MP Supriya Sule further alleged that though she is following up regularly, there is no cooperation from the PMC.

Hence Sule directed PMC commissioner Vikram Kumar to conduct meetings of all stakeholders including NHAI, MSEB, Civic water supply department, and others for smooth co-ordination which will help to complete work in the stipulated time.
