Pune By-poll elections : Postal voting facility for senior citizens and disabled persons in Kasba and Chinchwad constituency

Pune: The voting dates for Kasba Peth Assembly Constituency by-poll elections are nearing. To ensure that every citizen, including the elderly and disabled, exercises their right to vote, arrangements have been made for postal voting between February 16 to 22. According to reports, 299 senior citizens above the age of 80 and 4 disabled voters are registered for postal voting, and they will be able to vote from the comfort of their homes.

The facility of voting by mail is available for senior citizens and disabled voters above 80 years of age who have filled out Form 12D. The polling officers will be sent to their homes to record their votes, and the process will take place from February 16 to February 22, 2023.

The authorities have appointed eight teams to go to the voters’ homes and take their votes. Each team comprises a team leader, polling officer no. 1 as Sector Officer, and Polling Officer no. 2 as Revenue Officer. The teams will also include micro-inspectors, photographers, and police personnel to monitor the process.

Sneha Kisve-Devkate, the election decision officer of Kasba Peth Assembly Constituency, stated that they have taken all necessary precautions to ensure the safety and well-being of the voters and the polling officers. During the voting process, the teams will follow all COVID-19 guidelines, including wearing masks and maintaining social distancing.

The authorities have also arranged to sanitize the polling booths regularly, and the voters will be provided gloves and hand sanitizers. The officials have urged the voters to exercise their right to vote and have assured them of a safe and hassle-free voting experience.
