Pune: Case Registered Against 7 Phursungi School Teachers For Skipping Census 2027 Duty Training
Pune, May 15, 2026: A complaint has been registered against seven teachers and support staff members of Walnut School in Fursungi for allegedly remaining absent from Census 2027 training sessions and refusing to participate in census-related duties under the Government of India’s Census 2027 programme.
According to officials, the complaint was filed at Fursungi Police Station following allegations that the staff members failed to attend mandatory training organised for census operations in the Fursungi-Uruli Devachi Municipal Council area.
As per the complaint lodged by Tax Officer Abaso Dadaso Mudhe, the municipal council has divided the area’s 16 wards into 284 census blocks for the upcoming Census 2027 exercise. A total of 284 enumerators and 42 supervisors have been appointed for the census work.
Officials stated that training sessions for the appointed personnel were conducted at the Fursungi-Uruli Devachi Municipal Council office between April 23 and April 25, 2026.
The complaint names seven staff members from Walnut School Pranita Sinha, Ashwini Devare, Ipshita Mohanty, Shraddha Tamashetti, Manisha Hatagale, Ujjwala Londhe and Shashikala Sidhe.
According to the complaint, the individuals remained absent from the training sessions without obtaining prior permission, thereby creating obstacles in the census process and refusing to perform the duties assigned to them.
Based on directions issued by the Sub-Divisional Officer and Executive Magistrate of Haveli Division, authorities have initiated legal action against the accused under Section 11 of the Census Act, 1948.
Further investigation and action in the case are being carried out by Fursungi Police Station officials.
