In a crucial development for the city’s tech hub, Maharashtra Minister Chandrakant Patil has committed to addressing the chronic infrastructure problems at Hinjewadi IT Park and pending civic works in Wakad. The assurance came during a high-level meeting on Thursday where the minister received detailed representations from local representatives and citizen activists.

The meeting, organized under the ‘Snehibhet’ program at the invitation of former Corporators Mamata Vinayak Gaikwad and Sandeep Kaspate, saw the presentation of the eighth consecutive memorandum from IT professionals who have been grappling with infrastructure deficiencies for several months.

Minister Patil gave a patient hearing to three critical issues affecting the region. The primary concern was the prolonged delay in road repair works within Hinjewadi IT Park, where even minor maintenance projects have faced unexplained delays, causing significant discontent among the thousands of IT employees who navigate these roads daily.

Sachin Gunale from the #UnclogHinjawadiITPark campaign, who was present at the meeting, emphasized the gravity of the situation. “The IT park has been suffering from inadequate infrastructure for years, and the recent delays in basic road maintenance have made commuting unbearable for employees,” he stated.

The delegation also raised two other pressing matters concerning Wakad, the pending classification of a playground under the local authority to the municipal corporation, and the inordinate delays in the Datta Mandir road project.

Corporator Mamta Vinayak Gaikwad, who presented the playground issue, stressed the need for immediate action. “The playground classification has been pending for too long, affecting the recreational facilities available to residents, particularly children and youth in the area,” she said.

In response to these representations, Minister Patil assured concrete action. “I have taken serious note of all three issues raised today. I will personally discuss these matters with the PMRDA Commissioner to ensure they are resolved promptly,” the minister stated.

Sachin Londhe of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Housing Society Federation expressed cautious optimism about the outcome. “The Minister’s assurance brings hope for thousands of IT professionals and residents affected by these long-pending issues. We are grateful for his intervention and look forward to seeing tangible results soon,” Londhe said.

The meeting was attended by several prominent figures including MLA Shankar Jagtap, Corporator Sandeep Kaspate, Tejaswini Sawai, and Raj Mangrule. The organizers extended gratitude to the corporators for facilitating this important dialogue between citizens and the administration.
