Pune citizens express concern over chopping off tree on Prabhat Road, netizens call for prompt action against violator

In a recent tweet on X (formerly Twitter), Aamod Bhave highlighted a distressing incident where a revered old tree was ruthlessly chopped down on Prabhat Road in Pune. The tree, situated on public land, fell victim to the saws of a well-known builder, raising concerns about the dwindling greenery in the area.

“A beautiful old large tree on Prabhat Rd Lane No 9 chopped off by a reputed builder with several projects in the area. Mind you this is outside on public land. At this rate, whatever greenery is left – will be gone than less than a decade. Rules are only for those without reach.” He tweeted.

Another tweet said, “That’s sad. Prabhat Road is one of those areas that is redeveloping keeping most trees intact. Don’t understand the reason for this chopping. Could they not work around it?.”
Expressing his frustration, Bhave lamented the potential loss of all remaining greenery within a decade if such actions continue unchecked. His sentiments echoed the sentiments of many netizens, who called for legal action against the builder responsible for the tree’s demise.

The incident is particularly disheartening considering Prabhat Road’s reputation as an area striving to balance development with environmental preservation. Questions arise as to why the tree couldn’t have been preserved or worked around during the redevelopment process.
