Pune: CNG Price Hiked By ₹1.50 Per Kg, New Rates Effective From May 9
Pune, May 9, 2026: Maharashtra Natural Gas Limited (MNGL) has announced a hike in Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) prices in Pune city and adjoining areas. The revised rates came into effect from midnight of May 8/9, 2026.
According to the official press release issued by Maharashtra Natural Gas Limited, the retail selling price of CNG has been increased by ₹1.50 per kg, including taxes. Following the revision, CNG will now cost ₹92.25 per kg in Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad, Chakan, Talegaon and Hinjewadi.

The company stated that the decision was taken due to an increase in the input cost of natural gas for the CNG segment. Despite the price hike, MNGL claimed that CNG continues to remain an economical fuel option compared to petrol and diesel.
As per the company, CNG still offers savings of nearly 45% compared to petrol and around 22% compared to diesel for passenger cars at current fuel prices in Pune. Autorickshaw drivers are expected to save around 24% when using CNG.
Meanwhile, the prices of Domestic Piped Natural Gas (PNG) will remain unchanged, the company clarified in the statement.
MNGL has appealed to all customers to take note of the revised CNG rates.
