Pune, May 9, 2026: In view of rising security concerns and increasing crime incidents in the city, the Pune Police Commissionerate has issued important directives making it mandatory for citizens to share specific information with local police authorities.

The order has been issued by the Special Branch of the Pune City Police Commissionerate to strengthen public safety and prevent anti-social and anti-national activities in the city.

According to the new directive, landlords renting out properties, homeowners accommodating paying guests (PGs), estate agents, and individuals providing temporary accommodation must now submit the details of tenants and occupants to the nearest police station in writing.

The order also applies to agents involved in the purchase and sale of used vehicles, caretakers of public and private properties, and trustees of religious places. They will be required to maintain and submit records of concerned individuals to the police authorities.

Pune attracts a large number of students from across Maharashtra and other states for education and employment opportunities. As a result, the number of people living in rented accommodations and as paying guests has increased significantly in recent years.

Police officials stated that the move aims to maintain public peace, enhance security measures, and ensure better protection of life and property across the city.

The directive will be applicable to all landlords, tenants, paying guests, and vehicle owners within Pune city limits.
