Pune, May 9, 2026: Pune witnessed a colourful celebration of Assamese culture as Bohagi Mahotsav 2026, organised by Borluit – The Assamese Association of Pune, attracted more than 800 visitors at Koregaon Park.

The festival marked the celebration of Bohag Bihu, the Assamese New Year, and featured an evening filled with cultural performances, music, traditional cuisine and community interaction. People from different communities gathered to experience the rich heritage and traditions of Assam.

One of the major highlights of the event was a live musical performance by Nilotpal Bora, whose songs received an enthusiastic response from the audience.

The programme also featured an interactive session titled “In Conversation” with Joi Barua, where he spoke with members of Team Borluit about music, creativity, Assamese culture and his artistic journey.

Traditional cultural performances added vibrancy to the event, including classical Sattriya Dance presentations and energetic Bihu Husori performances. Fusion dance acts inspired by North Eastern culture and a North East fusion fashion show also drew appreciation from attendees.

Food stalls serving authentic North Eastern dishes and traditional products became another major attraction during the festival, with visitors exploring the flavours and crafts of the region.

Organisers said the event aimed not only to celebrate Assamese traditions but also to strengthen cultural ties between Assam and Maharashtra. The large turnout and enthusiastic participation made Bohagi Mahotsav 2026 one of the association’s most successful cultural gatherings in Pune so far.
