Pune Commissioner of Police’s WhatsApp Helpline Receives Overwhelming Response From Citizens

Pune: The WhatsApp helpline number monitored directly by the Pune Commissioner of Police Ritesh Kumar has received an overwhelming response from the citizens within 5 days of its commencement. It is worthy to note that Kumar launched the number on July 10 keeping in mind the rising number of cases of crime in the city.
As per information from the official Twitter handle of Pune City Police, within just 5 days, 476 messages/responses have been sent to the WhatsApp number out of which 181 have been sent for review & action.
The highest percent of responses sent on these numbers are greetings – 62%, and crime – 38% with different messages like traffic, women’s safety, noise pollution, beat patrolling etc.
Police have urged people to report crimes on the number instead of sending greetings.
