Pune Crime News: Woman Doctor Harassed In Road Rage Incident At Golibar Maidan
Pune, August 31, 2024 – A woman doctor was subjected to harassment following a road rage incident in front of Golibar Maidan on Thursday evening. The doctor, who works at a prominent hospital in the Erandwane area, was verbally abused and faced obscene gestures after confronting a reckless motorcyclist who had collided with her car.
The accused, identified as Vivek Anil Shelar (30), a resident of Lane No. 5, Shantinagar, Wanowrie, has been charged under Sections 79, 352, and 351 (2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). A 51-year-old woman filed the complaint at Wanowrie police station, detailing the distressing encounter.
According to police reports, the doctor was driving past Golibar Maidan when Shelar, who was riding a two-wheeler (MH 12 TM 5908) at high speed from the opposite direction, crashed into her car. At the time, Shelar was wearing headphones, which may have contributed to his lack of attention on the road. When the doctor confronted him about the accident, Shelar allegedly responded by hitting her car again. He then verbally abused her and made obscene gestures, escalating the situation further.
The case is currently under investigation by Police Sub Inspector Vishal Pawar, who is gathering more information regarding the incident. The police have urged the public to exercise caution and report any instances of road rage to prevent such altercations from escalating.
