Pune: A shocking incident of violence against a woman has come to light from Pune district’s Alephata area, where a 20-year-old woman was allegedly attacked with a blade by her live-in partner after she refused to return to Latur with him. The accused fled the scene after the attack and is currently on the run.

According to police, the injured woman had been living in a live-in relationship with Nagesh Bhagwan Thorat, a resident of Renapur taluka in Latur district. The couple has two children. Due to Thorat’s alleged alcohol addiction, the woman had left Latur along with her children and moved to Alephata, where she was working at an art centre.

The incident took place on Wednesday morning near the Alephata ST bus stand. The woman had gone shopping with a friend and was standing outside a clothing store when the accused reportedly approached her. During their conversation, Thorat once again insisted that she return to Latur with him. When the woman firmly refused, he allegedly lost his temper.

Local residents and emergency responders rushed the injured woman to a nearby hospital, where she is currently undergoing treatment. Police officials said her condition is stable.

Based on the victim’s complaint, Alephata Police have registered a case against the accused under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). A search operation has been launched, and efforts are underway to trace and arrest the absconding accused.

Police are continuing their investigation into the case.
