Pune, April 9, 2026: A shocking cyber fraud has surfaced in Pune, where a 75-year-old doctor lost ₹12.31 crore within just 50 days after being lured by promises of high returns on stock market investments. The victim filed a complaint with Shivajinagar Cyber Police, prompting an investigation.

The doctor, residing in Bhosalenagar, Hadapsar, was contacted by cyber fraudsters in January through a message claiming that investments in the stock market would yield significant profits. Over time, they sent repeated messages and updates about supposedly profitable schemes, which encouraged the senior citizens to invest.

Believing that the returns were growing, the doctor issued multiple cheques worth ₹3 crore each to the fraudsters. In total, over a period of one month and 21 days, the scammers received ₹12.31 crore. They created the illusion that the doctor was earning ₹54 crore in profits, but no returns were ever made. The fraud only came to light when it was too late.
