Local citizens protested at the Lonavala railway station by blocking the railway track, which disrupted the schedule of the train running between Pune and Mumbai. 

They also raised slogans by climbing on the engine of the Deccan Queen. It has been informed that this protest is being done for various demands.

A heavy police force was deployed to prevent any untoward incident at the Lonavala railway station. Locals have been making different demands for the past few days, but due to no action taken by the railway authorities, the citizens decided to hold a protest. 

The citizens have demanded that the railway authorities must give halt to Vande Bharat Express & other express trains at Lonavala railway station.

The protestors held the Pune Mumbai Deccan Queen Train for 20 minutes at Lonavala railway station. 

Earlier on Wednesday, Deccan Queen Express faced its fourth delay in 15 days due to malfunctioning. On Wednesday, the journey of the Deccan Queen Express to Mumbai experienced a delay, as passengers raised concerns about fumes emanating from the wheels while traversing the ghat section. This marks the fourth time in the past 15 days that the Deccan Queen has faced delays attributed to brake malfunctions.

According to the information given by the railways, when the Deccan Queen Express departing from Pune was approaching Palasadari station on Wednesday, the brake winding in the C-3 and D-4 coaches had malfunctioned. As a result, the train stalled from 8.12 am to 9.20 minutes.

The engineering team of Central Railway reached the spot and released the brake. After 50 minutes, the train resumed its journey to Mumbai. The train arriving at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) at 10.25

regular time, reached by 10.40 am.

Regularly, Deccan Queen departs from Pune station daily at 7:30 am, arriving at Mumbai’s CSMT at 10:30 am.

The previous delays were reported on December 27 in 2023 and January 1, 3 and 10 this year.
