Maharashtra Cabinet Minister Chandrakant Patil announced on Friday that Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is likely to inaugurate the Shreemant Bajirao Peshwa and Nanasaheb Memorial works located on Parvati Hill in Pune.

Patil, who inspected the ongoing construction of the memorial, revealed that the first phase of the Peshwa memorial is nearing completion. He also confirmed that the Defence Minister has been invited to attend the inauguration ceremony. Patil further instructed the Devdeveshwar Sansthan and Smarak Vikas Samiti to submit the second phase plans, assuring that the state government would support the completion of the project.

The memorial is part of a beautification initiative, which includes the installation of a statue of Bajirao Peshwa and murals depicting the Peshwa era. Patil noted that the project was initially proposed when he was the Pune district guardian minister and has been funded through a combination of MLA Madhuri Misal’s funds, district planning and development committee contributions, and corporate social responsibility (CSR) funding.

The event was also attended by BJP spokesperson Sandeep Khardekar, trust office-bearer Ramesh Bhagwat, and sculptor Vivek Khatavkar.
