Pune District Election Office to Recount Votes for Three Candidates, Court to Decide on Others
The district administration announced on Friday that it will conduct a recount of votes for three candidates in the state assembly elections.
Eleven candidates from Pune district had approached the collector’s office, requesting a recount of votes from the electronic voting machines (EVMs) and the voter verifiable paper audit trail (VVPAT) slips.
Deputy district election officer Meenal Kalaskar informed the officials about the recounting process, stating, “In Pune district, a total of 11 candidates submitted applications for a recount. However, Yugendra Pawar has withdrawn his application.”
Kalaskar added, “The requests from seven other candidates are currently with the court. Therefore, only three applications will be processed for recounting.
The election office will handle the recount for these three applications, while the administration will adhere to the court’s directives regarding the seven other applications.”
