Pune, June 18, 2025: The residents of Emerald Isle CHS, located on Lohegaon Road behind Wagheswar Temple in Wagholi, are grappling with severe waterlogging after Bhairavnath Lake overflowed due to recent rains. Water from the lake has entered the society’s parking area and is dangerously close to seeping into residential units, raising serious concerns over resident safety and property damage.

The situation was first reported around 6:30 AM on June 14, when the society’s managing committee alerted local community leaders, including Anil Satav, Sandip Satav, Sagar Gore, and Rambhau Dabhade. Messages and calls were also made to MLA Mauli Katke and the Pune Collector, urging immediate intervention.

By 10:30 AM, leaders and officials from the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) visited the site to assess the emergency. Prompt response and on-ground action by community leaders resulted in the deployment of pumps to drain the accumulated water and clearance of a choked main drainage line at Lohegaon Road, which helped prevent further water intrusion into the homes.

On June 15, Sunday morning, society members held discussions with MLA Mauli Abba Katke regarding the recurring flooding issue caused by Bhairavnath Lake. Later that evening, MLA Katke visited the site, conducted a firsthand inspection, and assured residents of administrative follow-up with senior PMC authorities.

Along with immediate flood relief, the MLA also discussed the society’s long-pending conveyance deed issues and assured full support in addressing procedural hurdles.

While the timely intervention brought temporary relief, Emerald Isle residents continue to press for a permanent drainage and water management solution to prevent future crises.
