Former Deputy Mayor Aba Bagul has expressed deep regret over the apparent disregard for loyalty within the Maharashtra Pradesh Congress amidst the ongoing Nyay Yatra led by Congress national leader Rahul Gandhi. In a recent press conference, Bagul, a prominent figure vying for the Pune Lok Sabha seat, raised poignant questions regarding the fidelity to Congress ideals within the state.

“I have dedicated four decades of unwavering loyalty to the Congress party. Despite being a strong contender for the Lok Sabha elections this year, I was overlooked without explanation,” Bagul lamented, questioning the criteria behind the party’s decision-making process. He criticized the nomination of individuals who recently joined Congress from other parties, highlighting it as a blatant injustice to longstanding party members. “It’s akin to betraying loyalty,” he added.

Bagul further emphasized the abundance of capable individuals within the party, including himself, who were disregarded in the candidature selection process. He attributed the party’s actions to a predetermined policy at the national level, enforcing the principle of ‘one person, one post,’ thereby excluding sitting MLAs and previous election contenders from consideration.

The Maharashtra Pradesh Congress’s deviation from party principles was not lost on Bagul, who cautioned against descending into factional politics. He warned of potential repercussions if dissenting voices within the party gained traction, urging leaders to prioritize loyalty over personal agendas.

“This decision has dealt a severe blow to loyalists who have tirelessly served the party. We will convene a meeting of loyalists to chart our next course of action,” Bagul declared, urging the party to reevaluate its stance and consider his candidacy. He assured that clarity on the way forward would be forthcoming.

Bagul’s outspoken critique underscores simmering discontent within the Maharashtra Pradesh Congress, highlighting the delicate balance between party loyalty and political pragmatism amidst the backdrop of the Nyay Yatra. As the party grapples with internal dissent, the resolution of such conflicts will undoubtedly shape its trajectory in the upcoming elections.
