Residents of Baner have been grappling with a severe power outage for over 24 hours, affecting multiple societies including RA Residence, Sarvesh Panorama, and Ujwal Regalia. The issue stems from complications with the Gartech House/Ram Indu Park feeder, and the situation remains unresolved despite repeated assurances from the authorities.

Throughout the day yesterday, residents were told that the power issue would be fixed within two hours. However, as the day progressed, the timeline was extended to 10 a.m. the following day. This morning, the expected resolution time was pushed to 3:00 p.m., only for residents to be informed that a significant problem had arisen and the concerned team was unavailable.

Abhir, a resident of RA Residence Baner, detailed the ongoing disruption: “The power outage began at 4 p.m. on July 25, 2024. It briefly resumed around 6:00 p.m., but only one of the three phases was operational. Currently, we have just one phase working, which only supports basic lights and fans. Appliances like air conditioners, geysers, microwaves, and elevators are non-functional. Our building, a service apartment, is facing complaints from guests who lack essential amenities such as hot water and a working lift.”

Despite lodging a complaint with the Maharashtra State Electricity Board (MSEDCL) yesterday, residents have been met with repeated delays. This morning, they were informed that repairs would be completed by 3 p.m., but by 3:30 p.m., it was revealed that no work had commenced due to a lack of permission from higher authorities.

MSEDCL officials attributed the delay to a major disruption in the underground line of the Ram Indu Park feeder. They also noted that significant power issues have been caused by floodwater affecting the main line. The MSEDCL employee overseeing Baner explained, “Our teams are working around the clock to restore power. Although we have managed to address outages in several areas, ongoing waterlogging is complicating our efforts, and working in such conditions poses substantial risks.”
