On 29th January, a massive fire broke out in a car running on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) at Katraj Chowk. There were no injuries reported in the accident.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Pradeep Khedekar, Fire Officer, PMC, said “We got a call about the incident at around 5 to 5:30 am. When we reached there, the fire was seen near the engine of the car. We started dousing the fire using water. It was doused within some time. We got to know that the persons were travelling from Chiplun to Pune in the car.”

Khedekar further added “The cause of the fire is not known. However, prima facie it seems that the car had been driven continuously, without halting anywhere, from Chiplun to Pune due to which the engine must have been exhausted, leading to fire breaking out.”

Khedekar further said “The driver of the car is identified as a person called Rane. He told us that when they reached at Katraj Chowk, the persons in the car had immediately vacated the car due to the fire. Hence, as everyone was already out of the car, no casualty or injury took place.”

For the operation, one fire vehicle was used along with the involvement of one fire officer & 4 fire jawans.
