Jyoti Ganesh Kalamkar, a prominent figure in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and former corporator representing the Aundh-Baner ward, has taken a compassionate step following her recent win in the PMC Property Tax Lucky Draw Scheme. Rather than accepting the conventional prize of a petrol car, Kalamkar has reached out to the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) with a unique request—to provide an ambulance of equivalent value in place of the car.

In conversation with Pune Pulse, Jyoti Ganesh Kalamkar, who previously served as a corporator for the BJP in Pune, shared her motivation behind this unconventional choice. She stated, “My primary intention behind this request is rooted in social service and the imperative to extend timely assistance to those in need. There are numerous instances where individuals require urgent medical attention and must reach a hospital without delay. By opting for an ambulance, my aim is to ensure that such individuals receive swift and essential medical aid when it matters most.”

The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has, in the fiscal year 2023-24, rewarded diligent property tax payers with various prizes, recognizing their punctual payments. Among the recipients of these rewards is Jyoti Ganesh Kalamkar, a respected figure in the BJP and a former corporator. Kalamkar was fortunate enough to secure a petrol car as her prize in the property tax lottery draw.

However, her choice to forego the conventional reward in favor of an ambulance donation underscores her deep commitment to community welfare and healthcare accessibility. This philanthropic gesture stands as a testament to Kalamkar’s dedication to making a meaningful impact beyond the confines of politics.

By channeling her winnings towards a resource as vital as an ambulance, Jyoti Ganesh Kalamkar exemplifies the notion that public figures can serve as catalysts for positive change in society. Her advocacy for immediate medical aid underscores the critical importance of timely assistance, particularly in emergency situations.

As the Pune Municipal Corporation considers Kalamkar’s unique request, the community is reminded of the potential for public figures to leverage their influence for the betterment of society. Jyoti Ganesh Kalamkar’s decision to choose an ambulance over a car prize resonates as a heartwarming and impactful gesture, ultimately contributing to the well-being of the city’s residents.
