Pune: Fraud Alert – Rs 22 Lakh Disappears from Online Shopkeeper’s Account in Narhe
Pune: In a troubling incident highlighting the growing threat of cybercrime, a woman shopkeeper from Narhe fell victim to fraudsters who siphoned off Rs 22 lakh from her bank account.
The woman shopkeeper from Narhe, aged 33, had Rs 22 lakh stolen from her bank account by cybercriminals on September 5. She reported the incident to the Sinhagad Road police, who confirmed her complaint. The shopkeeper, who operates an online money transfer business, had received Rs 25 lakh from a client that morning.
As per police officials, despite not sharing her bank account details, PIN, or ATM card information, the fraudsters managed to access her computer temporarily. They transferred Rs 22 lakh to eight different bank accounts before restoring her programs to cover their tracks. The police suspect her bank account was compromised, and they are investigating the case.
