Pune: GBS Patients To Receive Government Aid For Treatment Expenses
PUNE: Patients suffering from Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS) will receive financial assistance for treatment under government health schemes. A total of 38 patients in Pune will be covered under the Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Jan Arogya Yojana, while 8 patients will receive support through the Pune Municipal Corporation’s Urban Poor Scheme. However, patients with private health insurance will not be eligible for this assistance, according to the municipal health department.
Due to the high cost of treatment, the state government has increased the financial limit under the Jan Arogya Yojana and the Urban Poor Scheme to ₹2 lakh. Additionally, municipal employees affected by GBS will have their entire treatment covered by the corporation. Patients residing within municipal limits but not included in the Urban Poor Scheme will be eligible for medical aid of up to ₹1 lakh.
Key Highlights:

- Treatment expense limit increased to ₹2 lakh under both schemes.

- Pune has the highest number of GBS cases, with 203 patients reported in the division.
