Pune: Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics Issues Show Cause Notice to Dr. Ajit Ranade for serious allegations of misrepresentation
Pune, 13 July 24 – The Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics (GIPE) has issued a show cause notice to Dr. Ajit Ranade for serious allegations of
misrepresentation and unacceptable conduct. Chancellor Rajiv Kumar has taken this decisive action following the revelation of multiple infractions that have caused significant harm to the institute reputation and financial standing.
Dr. Ranade stands accused of:
- Suppressing material information at the time of his appointment, including falsifying requisite qualifications.
- Wilfully misrepresenting facts to the University Grants Commission(UGC), the Government of India, and the Government of Maharashtra.
- Creating frivolous posts within the institute, resulting in substantialfinancial mismanagement.
These actions have undermined the core purpose of the Gokhale Institute and
have inflicted severe reputational damage and financial loss. Despite being
given a stipulated time to respond to the show cause notice, Dr. Ranade has
failed to provide any reply to UGC & Chancellor.
Additionally, Dr. Ranade’s role as an independent director at Persistent Systems
Ltd. raises further questions regarding his moral integrity and the governance
structure at Persistent Systems. GIPE remains committed to upholding the highest standards of integrity and transparency. The institute will take all necessary measures to rectify the situation and ensure that such breaches of trust do not recur.
