Pune: Holi Turns Tragic as Three Drown in Indrayani River Near Maval
Pimpri-Chinchwad: Three youths from Pimpri-Chinchwad’s Gharkul area drowned in the Indrayani River near Kinhai village in Maval on Holi, triggering grief among locals.
According to Dehuroad police, the tragic incident occurred around 3 PM when a group of five friends went swimming in the river.
While two stayed by the riverbank, the other three entered the water but struggled to stay afloat and ultimately drowned.
The deceased have been identified as Rohit alias Gautam Kamble, Vishal alias Raj Dilip Achame, and Akash Vitthal Korde. Upon noticing the trio in distress, their friends raised an alarm. A rescue operation involving the police, fire brigade, NDRF, and local residents was launched, and after two hours of efforts, the bodies were recovered.
The unfortunate incident on the festive day of Holi has left the community in mourning. The Maval Wildlife Rescue Team was also present at the site, and further investigation is being carried out by Dehuroad police.
