Pune: Strict Action Against Drunk Driving – Two Offenders Fined ₹20,000 Each, Sentenced to Jail
Pimpri-Chinchwad: In a major crackdown on drunk driving, Pimpri-Chinchwad Police conducted a special operation across 25 locations on the occasion of Holi. As part of the drive, action was taken against 272 individuals caught driving under the influence.
Police Conduct Special Drunk Driving Operation
With Holi celebrations in full swing, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate launched a special campaign against drunk driving to prevent any untoward incidents. The operation, which lasted from 7 AM to 10 PM, resulted in 272 motorists being booked. These cases will be forwarded to the court in the coming days, as confirmed by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Bapu Bangar.
25 Locations Targeted in Police Action
To ensure public safety, heavy police deployment was in place throughout the city. The anti-drunk driving campaign was conducted at 25 key locations, including Sangvi, Talawade, Dehuroad, Talegaon, Ravet, Hinjewadi, Wakad, Bhosari, and Chinchwad. Traffic police took strict action against violators to curb reckless driving and potential accidents.
