Pune Horror: 22 Year Old's Rapist Posing As Courier Agent Arrested From Karve Nagar
Pune: In a disturbing incident that has sent shockwaves across the city, a 22-year-old software professional was allegedly raped at her residence in a posh Kondhwa society. The accused who posed as a delivery agent was arrested from Karve Nagar society today afternoon, two days after the incident.
The crime took place on Wednesday evening around 7:30 PM when the victim, who lives alone, was approached by the accused at her door. According to investigators, the man convinced her to open the door, insisting he needed her signature for a delivery. Despite the woman stating she was not expecting any courier, he persisted and forcefully entered her flat.
Sprayed Chemical Before Assault
Preliminary reports suggest the accused may have sprayed a substance on the woman’s face to subdue her before committing the assault. He then allegedly used the victim’s mobile phone to take a selfie, partially revealing his face along with the woman’s back in the frame.
Adding to the trauma, the accused left a chilling note on her phone warning her not to report the crime. “I will come again,” he allegedly wrote, threatening to release her pictures on social media if she informed the authorities.
Swift Police Action
After the survivor approached the police, two suspects were detained on Thursday. The identification of the main accused is underway based on the survivor’s statement and medical examination, officials said.
The accused’s face was reportedly captured on CCTV cameras installed in the society premises. Police teams are also scrutinizing entries in the society’s gate management app and CCTV footage from nearby areas to ascertain how the accused gained access.
Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, who personally visited the crime scene, assured the public that a dozen teams have been deployed to crack the case. “Our teams are pursuing multiple leads and we are confident of arresting the accused soon,” Kumar stated.
