Viman Nagar’s Apollo clinic area has been in news for haphazard parking. Despite No Parking boards and other signboards being erected, motorists often park their vehicles in unauthorised places. Several motorists also park their vehicles below such sign boards flouting norms.

A Viman Nagar resident complained to Pune Pulse that Traffic police should take action against such motorists for flouting norms.

Binod Pillai, a resident of Viman Nagar said, “Motorists should follow rules and must avoid parking in non designated areas. Areas near Apollo clinic near Viman Nagar have become notoriously famous for haphazard parking.”

Talking to a vegetable vendor he said that more vehicles are parked in no parking zones. “People park their vehicles anywhere, and the system is very unorganized,” he said. There is excessive traffic caused as a result of this, he opined

Police officers have removed many scooters and bikes everyday, said the vendor. Turns out, people still don’t adhere to the traffic rules. The route is typically clogged by a lot of traffic, especially in the evening. The owners of two-wheelers towed by the police are subject to a fine of 785 rupees.
According to some residents, there should be more designated parking areas and more restaurants and cafes should ban double parking outside their cafes.

The road construction work are also adding to the traffic as seen in the Symbiosis – Airport road.

When Pune Pulse spoke to Santosh Sonawane, police inspector, Vimantal Traffic Police Division assured that action will be taken against violators. Motorists parking their vehicles in No Parking areas are liable for fines, he said.
