Pune: Intoxicated Man Falls from Bavdhan Society Wall, Residents Demand Safety Measures
PUNE: A shocking incident took place at Kunal Belleza Society, located on Flamingo Empire Road, behind Maratha Mandir, Bavdhan on Friday night. A man, suspected to be intoxicated, climbed the society’s wall from the service roadside, which is approximately 3 to 4 feet high. Tragically, during the early hours of March 28, he fell from the other side of the wall, which has a steep drop of 30 to 40 feet, sustaining severe injuries.
Security personnel suspect that the fall occurred between 3 and 4 AM. The injured man was discovered around 6 AM, unable to stand due to a serious back injury. He also appeared to have a nearly fractured right leg.
Eyewitness Account and Assistance
Swapnil Gaurshettiwar, Secretary of the neighboring Flamingo Society, which shares a common wall with Belleza, arrived at the scene around 8 AM. He recounted, “The man was fully drunk and unable to walk. When asked about his name and family, he claimed to have no one. The society members provided him with food and water while waiting for medical assistance.”
Despite multiple calls, the ambulance took some time to arrive. In the meantime, the security staff and residents assisted in helping the injured man get to safety before he was taken for medical attention.

Recurring Security Concerns
This incident has reignited safety concerns among the residents of Belleza and Flamingo societies. In the past, the area has witnessed multiple security breaches, including instances where bottles and stones were thrown into the society premises from the service road. Such incidents have prompted residents to file police complaints on several occasions.
As a preventive measure, authorities had earlier recommended installing CCTV cameras facing the service road. While this has been implemented, the recurring nature of such incidents suggests that additional security measures are required.

Residents Call for Urgent Action
Despite existing precautions, residents believe that the current wall separating the service road from the residential area is inadequate in preventing such accidents. They have urged the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to intervene by installing safety nets or sound barrier walls along the service road.
Residents argue that these measures are necessary to prevent future mishaps and ensure the safety of the community. They are calling for immediate action before another serious incident occurs.
