Pune: Kalyani Nagar Residents Flag Illegal Rooftop Bars And Commercial Misuse Of Residential Buildings At ‘Coffee with Ajitdada’ Meet
Pune, January 13, 2026: Residents of Kalyani Nagar raised serious concerns over the growing number of illegal rooftop bars and the commercial misuse of residential buildings during the “Coffee with Ajitdada” interactive session held on January 12, 2026, at the banquet hall on Nagar Road.
The issue was directly brought to the notice of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar by local residents Monica Sharma, Yasmin Charania, Rajeshwari, Haresh Harakh, and Kundan, who also submitted written complaints detailing multiple violations. The complaints highlighted the operation of rooftop bars and restaurants in residential zones without mandatory permissions, leading to persistent noise pollution, safety hazards, and disturbance to the neighbourhood’s peace.

Residents pointed out that several establishments are functioning without adequate parking facilities, fire safety clearances, and necessary no-objection certificates. They warned that the lack of fire NOCs and unregulated crowd management posed a serious risk to residents, particularly in densely populated housing societies.
The interactive session was organised to encourage open dialogue on civic and infrastructure-related issues within the Vadgaonsheri Assembly constituency, which includes Pune Municipal Corporation Wards 3, 4, and 5. Citizens used the platform to underline the negative impact of unchecked commercial activity in residential areas and demanded strict enforcement of existing rules and zoning regulations.

Responding to the concerns, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar assured residents that the complaints would be examined by the relevant departments and that appropriate action would be initiated in accordance with the law. He reiterated the government’s commitment to balancing development with the safety and quality of life of citizens.
Organisers of the event stated that “Coffee with Ajitdada” was conceived to strengthen citizen participation in governance and to facilitate practical, solution-oriented discussions aimed at improving urban living conditions in Pune.
The session was attended by local leaders, party office bearers, and a large number of society members, reflecting strong community engagement on issues affecting residential neighbourhoods.
