The residents of Kalyani Nagar are in trouble from all ends. Encroachments, loud music from bars and restaurants, prolonged road work and now bikers driving without silencers.

Certain areas like South Avenue and Central Avenue alongwith the area around Cerebrum IT Park are particularly more noisy than others where residents are losing their peace. Demand for action and penalty is high from residents living in this area.

Yasmin Charania, a resident of North Avenue in Kalyani Nagar informed that the noise from modified bikes and their silencers is terrible.

Another resident of the Kalyani Nagar area said that Kalyani Nagar is slowly losing its identity of being a peaceful suburb. There are so many issues in the area now, speeding bikers, noise from silencers, restaurants playing loud music beyond permissible limit, hawkers, traffic congestion, it seems all problems have gripped Kalyani Nagar badly.

She said we are hoping that the area gains back its identity. To make this happen, we need help from PMC, Traffic police and Police also, she said.

Another resident of Vadgaon Sheri, Sumit Karnik complained that the lane particularly near Cerebrum IT park needs more patrolling as there are many offices and commercial spaces. At night it becomes isolated when these bikers ride in this area.

“As the noise pollution in Kalyani Nagar is increasing due to the bike riders who have removed silencers of bikes, residents are complaining about it, We have taken action against 105 such bike riders. The police patrolling is also being done,” said PI Jayram Paigude, Yerwada traffic division.
