Pune: Khadki Railway Station to get two more platforms
The Pune railway division is planning to add two more platforms at Khadki railway station so the long-distance trains headed for Mumbai can stop or start from the station.

Pune- The Pune railway division has decided to add two more platforms at Khadki railway station. With this facility, long-distance trains headed for Mumbai will be able to stop or start from Khadki railway station. The two additional platforms at the Khadki terminal will reduce the burden on railway trains and passenger operations at Pune railway station as well.
There are lakhs of passengers traveling through Pune railway station every day therefore it is overburdened and several trains face frequent delays. As there is an influx of passengers, the railway administration as well as the passengers go through many difficulties. Against this background, the railway administration is now planning to increase the number of platforms and develop stations in Pune city as terminals, just like Mumbai, to tackle this issue. The railway is working to develop Hadapsar and Khadki stations as terminals in the vicinity of Pune railway station. This step will reduce the stress on Pune station.
In this regard, the number of platforms at Khadki will amount to three in the next few months, for which a fund of Rs 35 crore has been initiated by the Railway Board. Accordingly, the length of one platform will be increased while a new platform will be constructed. The Pune Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Indu Dubey has mentioned that the Khadki terminal 2 platform will be extended to reduce the congestion of trains at Pune railway station. The approval of the Railway Board has been received for this and the action plan for the work is ready. The process of issuing tenders is set to begin soon.
The Pune railway division is also planning to stop express trains at important railway stations near Pune station to reduce the pressure on Pune railway station. This will also help the passengers to get off at their respective areas. If this plan is approved, it will be implemented immediately. The initiative to extend platforms at Khadki station will prove to be beneficial for the railways as the overburdening at Pune station will be lessened and passenger convenience will also be provided.
