Pune: Kondhwa Police Arrest Serial Criminals Involved In Multiple Shop Theft Cases
The Kondhwa Police Station investigation team has successfully apprehended notorious criminals known for stealing shop shutters at night.
On August 9, 2024, while patrolling the area to prevent burglaries and thefts, officers Santosh Bansude and Shahid Sheikh received a tip about suspects involved in a recent crime, including Amol Awchare from Kasewadi, Bhawani Peth, Pune, and his accomplice Tausif from Kondhwa, Pune.
Acting on the information, Senior Police Inspector Vinay Patankar and his team went to Kasewadi, where they spotted Amol Awchare riding a black Honda Dio scooter. The officers stopped him near the Jain temple and, after confirming his identity, took him into custody. The stolen items found with him included a silver idol, silver coins, and several valuable items totaling Rs. 25,000.
During interrogation, Amol Awchare and his partner Tausif Shaikh admitted to multiple shutter thefts in Kondhwa and Sinhagad areas. Their arrests led to the recovery of gold rings, silver coins, idols, mobile phones, and other stolen items worth Rs. 1,17,600.
The accused, who have a history of criminal activities, are linked to 16 cases across various police stations in Pune, including Kondhwa, Khadak, Lashkar, and Swargate.
