In a swift and decisive operation, the Kondhwa Police Station’s investigation team successfully apprehended two individuals involved in a series of mobile phone snatching incidents. The operation was conducted under the vigilant leadership of Deputy Commissioner of Police, R. Raja, and Senior Police Inspector, Santosh Sonwane. The incident occurred on June 8, 2024, at approximately 12:15 PM near Taheri Clinic on Salunkhe Vihar Road, Kondhwa Khurd. The victim, a 17-year-old resident of the area, was walking near the Salunkhe Vihar Telephone Exchange when two individuals on a two-wheeler forcibly snatched his OnePlus mobile phone and fled the scene. A case was promptly registered under sections 392 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code.

Following the incident, Police Inspector (Crime) Mr. Mansingh Patil and Inspector Mr. Santosh Sonwane directed the investigation team to intensify efforts to apprehend the culprits. Utilizing advanced technical analysis, Police Constable Nilesh Desai identified the stolen mobile phone in possession of Umar Salim Sheikh, a resident of Shivnerinagar, Kondhwa. Acting on this information, police officers Shahid Sheikh and Laxman Holkar detained Sheikh.

During interrogation, Sheikh confessed to the crime, revealing that he had committed the theft along with a minor accomplice. The investigation team recovered a Honda Shine two-wheeler, ten stolen mobile phones valued at Rs. 86,000, and a total of Rs. 1.26 lakh from the accused.

The operation, registered under case number 119/2024, section 309(4) of the Indian Penal Code 2023, was lauded for its efficiency and effectiveness. The commendable efforts of Sub-Inspector Balaji Digole, Police Commissioner Nilesh Desai, Vishal Memane, Satish Chavan, Gorakhnath Chinke, Laxman Holkar, Shahid Sheikh, Santosh Bansude, Sujit Madan, Sagar Bhosale, and Suraj Shukla were instrumental in bringing the culprits to justice.

The exemplary work of the Kondhwa Police Station has not only led to the recovery of stolen property but also serves as a deterrent to future crimes, ensuring the safety and security of the local community.
