According to reports, around 4:30 pm, the son approached the Bandra police, informing them that he witnessed his father jump off the sea link during their video call on Whatsapp.

His body was found after a three-hour search operation carried out by the fire brigade officers and divers.

Bandra police said Seth requested a motorist at the BWSL toll plaza to drop him in south Bombay, saying his car had broken down and he needed to reach his destination at the earliest. However, the deceased asked the motorist to stop on the sea link’s south end of the bridge before heading towards Worli. He got out of the vehicle and then made a video call to his son, informing him that he was about to jump off the bridge.

The son mentioned that earlier in the day, around 2 pm, his father had left their residence in Ghatkopar to visit his office in South Mumbai, showing no signs of distress.

An accidental death report (ADR) has been registered and police are conducting a further probe.
