In a recent operation, the Social Security Cell (SSC) of the Pune Crime Branch cracked down on Chaurahe Ke Paar — Cafe & Lounge located in Koregaon Park. The primary reason behind the raid was the restaurant’s sound system, which had been blaring loud music and causing a disturbance with noise pollution levels reaching a staggering 105 decibels.

The operation, spearheaded by Assistant Police Inspector Aniket Pote, was initiated in response to numerous complaints from the local residents of Koregaon Park. As a result of the raid, the police confiscated a sound system valued at Rs. 3 lakh. In the wake of this incident, an Assistant Commissioner of Police has been tasked with conducting an inquiry into the noise pollution case. Subsequently, a comprehensive report will be submitted to the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB), and MPCB officers will file a First Information Report (FIR) at the relevant police station after verifying the facts.

Koregaon Park residents had been persistently reporting their grievances concerning the relentless loud music coming from Chaurahe Ke Paar – Cafe & Lounge to the Pune Mirror. Assistant Police Inspector Pote elaborated on the situation, stating, “Our raid took place on Wednesday night, primarily because loud music was still being played after 10 pm.

During the operation, we confiscated a sound system and DJ mixer, valued at Rs. 3 lakh. This action was taken in accordance with the Environmental Protection Act and the Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Act.”
