Pune finds itself grappling with record-breaking temperatures. The meteorological department confirmed that several parts of the city soared to 40°C on April 15th, 2024. Even on April 16, high temperatures were recorded across the city suburbs. However, the evening ushered in a dramatic shift as brisk, chilly winds swept through, accompanied by the gathering of ominous dark clouds. Subsequently, many localities experienced light drizzles and welcomed a spell of pleasant weather.

This unseasonable rain, coupled with the extreme temperature fluctuations, has left citizens bewildered and concerned.

Temperature recorded today on April 16, 2024 at areas like Wadgaonsheri (42.5°C) and Koregaon Park (43.2°C), Chinchwad (42.5°C), Magarpatta (42°C), Hadapsar (41.5°C), Shivaji Nagar (40.7°C), Pashan (40.4°C), NDA (40.1°C), Lavasa (37°C) reported the highest temperatures, while nearby hilly retreats such as Lavasa and Lonavala registered comparatively cooler readings of 37.4°C and 39°C, respectively.

Throughout the month, Pune has consistently endured temperatures hovering around 39°C, resulting in various health issues such as sunburn, heatstroke, and dehydration for many residents. Authorities advise the public to take precautions, including using adequate sun protection, consuming plenty of fruits and water, and seeking shelter indoors during extreme conditions.
