Dark clouds gather over Pune as a thunderstorm approaches. Residents are advised to take precautions against lightning and strong winds.

In a recent report issued by the Indian Meteorological Department today evening, the moisture level at Shivajinagar was recorded at 25% at 17.30 hrs IST. This low moisture content has initiated the development of Cumulonimbus clouds, commonly known as Cb clouds. Residents in the Shivajinagar area have already noticed the beginning of this development, marked by distant sounds of thunder.

Experts warn that this weather pattern is likely to be accompanied by strong winds, resulting in temporary poor visibility due to dust lifting. They caution drivers to be extra careful on the roads, particularly during periods of reduced visibility. Additionally, standing under trees is deemed hazardous during lightning storms, as branches may break off due to strong winds, posing risks to individuals in the vicinity.

Similar weather observations have been reported in the Pashan area, with thunderous sounds indicating the formation of Cb cells in and around Pune. Residents are urged to remain vigilant and prioritize safety measures.

The impending thunderstorm is expected to bring lightning and light spells of rain, accompanied by gusty winds reaching speeds of 30-40 kmph. This weather event is forecasted to occur at isolated places in districts including Pune, Satara, Aurangabad, Jalna, Jalgaon, Nasik, Beed, Hingoli, and Ahmednagar over the next 2-3 hours.

Residents are advised to take necessary precautions when venturing outdoors during this period, including seeking shelter and avoiding exposed areas. Stay tuned to local weather updates for further advisories and safety instructions.
